The Senior Buyer is responsible for generating revenue by purchasing scrap metal through new and existing clients. Duties include maintaining effective relationships with existing clients, identifies and secures new business, and negotiates best prices. This career requires prior experience in the scrap metal industry, strong negotiating skills, and proven customer service skills.

I.                   ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

      Purchase scrap metal through new and existing clients

 

      Uses knowledge of scrap metal industry and market conditions to negotiate best prices.

 

      Develops and maintains effective relationships with new and existing clients.

 

      Identifies and secures additional business with existing accounts.

 

      Receives and responds to customer inquiries and quotes.

 

      Generates leads to solicit new business.

 

      Assist with managing inventory control.

 

      Remains current on industry trends, market activities, and competitors.

 

      Other job duties as assigned.

 

II.                Required Skills / Abilities

      Solid understanding of the methods in which scrap metal is valued.

 

      Demonstrated negotiation skills.

 

 

 

 

      Excellent verbal and written communication.

 

      Creative problem solving skills, and the ability to resolve issues and provide solutions.

 

      Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

 

      Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and Excel.

 

      Proven customer service skills.

 

      Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.

 

III.             Education & Experience

      Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance or other related field.

 

      3 years of experience in scrap metal industry.

 

      5 years of prior experience as a Buyer.
